From Shadows To Light: His Bliss, A Transcendental Path
Dedicated to all the Param Bhaktas of His Holiness Lord Bhagwan Gopinath Ji on his Nirvan Jayanti being celebrated all our world on 28th May 2025.
Ravesh was known in the lanes of his small town in Srinagar city as a lost cause, a blistering recurrence of his misdoings from early youth. Though smart, good looking, well-educated and from a very good family background, his promise seemed to fade.
He was praised by both time and the people around him till his school days, but after his advent in the college, things changed a lot.
His well-respected parents could not believe what had ultimately happened to their son, turning into an unstoppable privy to misadventures only.
Once a promising young man, he had descended into alcoholism after a series of professional business failures and personal disappointments. After his marriage with a very humble lady, things did not go well.Every evening, he would be found staggering outside liquor shops or sleeping by the roadside. Loitering here and there, stoically wandering without purpose, bringing shame to the ones who had raised him well, and even more so to the silent agony of his humble wife, Suvidha.
Suvidha, a private school teacher, held the family together with grace and quiet strength. Their two children, Poojya and Ankesh, were bright and ambitious, but their lives were coloured by the constant humiliation of their father’s condition.
Neighbours often whispered, “What future can these children have with such a father?” For no fault of theirs, it was all in the destiny they met, as people would say.
One rainy night changed everything. Ravesh, heavily drunk, was hit by a speeding car and left unconscious on the road. Passersby took him to the district hospital, where he hovered between life and death for days. The doctors had little hope. But during those dark hours, as machines beeped in rhythm with his failing heartbeat, Ravesh had a dream that would become the turning point of his life.
In his dream, he saw a big, changing resonance in his future life, a reality yet to come. He saw a radiant figure standing near his hospital bed. It was none other than Bhagwan Gopinath ji, enveloped in a divine light. His eyes were kind yet firm.
“Ravesh,” the voice echoed, “you were my param bhakta in your purva janam. You have lost your way. But the time has come to redeem yourself. Promise me — no more alcohol. No more selfishness. Dedicate your life to your family and society. Raise your children with love and strength. Restore your lost glory and serve as an example. This is your last chance.“
When Ravesh woke up, days later, he had tears in his eyes and clarity in his heart. The doctors were baffled at his sudden recovery. But Suvidha, standing by his bed with folded hands and eyes full of hope, believed in miracles.
From that day forward, Ravesh changed. He never touched alcohol again. He began volunteering at the local hospital, helping accident victims like himself. He started awareness drives about road safety and alcohol abuse.
He swept roads during cleanliness campaigns, visited slums to distribute books and food and became known in the town as “Ravesh Bhaiya – the people’s man.”
More importantly, he returned home — as a father and husband.
He supported Suvidha, helped with the children’s studies and rebuilt the dignity of their small but proud household.
Years passed. Poojya, with her father’s unshakeable support, cracked the UPSC and became a civil servant, now posted in Delhi, known for her honesty and efficiency.
Ankesh, always inspired by stars and science, studied at IIT and now works at ISRO in Indore as a young scientist, contributing to India’s space missions.
One evening, Ravesh sat at a roadside tea stall, sipping hot chai with his old friend Kishore, who still remembered the man Ravesh used to be.
Kishore, shaking his head in amazement, asked, “Ravesh, what really happened that night? How did you turn into the man who inspires us all?”
Ravesh looked into the sky, a smile on his weathered face.
He replied, “When I was unconscious in the hospital, fighting death, Bhagwan ji came to me. He reminded me of who I was in a past life, a devoted soul who served with love and dignity. He said this was my chance to return to that path. I made a promise — no more alcohol, no more darkness. Only light, service and love for my family. That dream saved me. That dream gave me a new life.”
Kishore had no words. He just bowed slightly and said, “You’re living proof, Ravesh… that even a shattered life can be rebuilt into something divine.”
And so, Ravesh’s story became one of redemption — not just of a man, but of a family and of faith reborn.
Now Ravesh is a dedicated Param Bhakta again in this Janam, too by virtue of his Karmas, meaning there by that Karmas brought him a meaningful life. With the divine blessings of Bhagwan Ji, he is just one among a many stories to tell about human beings bringing the shine to the world, so we can live under the lotus feet of Bhagwan Gopinath Ji Maharaj.
Dedicated this short inspiring story to all the Bhaktas on His Maha Jayanti being observed by all on 28th May 2025.
Let’s all celebrate in unison with His Divine blessings and Ashirwad, chanting the spiritual mantra:
Om Namo Bhagwati Gopinath haya yusaha Pari Tas Lagi Bhavasar taar.
Jai Bhagwan Ji
